Vesper manages wealth for families who would rather not discuss it. Their existing portal looked like every other fintech: navy, charts, a dashboard that congratulated itself. The brief was to design a product that felt like being shown into a room, not logged into a terminal.
The brief
Four products — custody, reporting, philanthropy, next-generation education — jammed into one navigation. Relationship managers were emailing PDFs because families would not open the app. Trust was high. The interface was not invited.
The work
We stripped the product back to a single daily surface: what changed, what needs a decision, what can wait. Typography does the hierarchy that colour usually fakes. Numbers are set like a well-kept ledger. Motion is almost absent; when something moves, it is because the money did.
Onboarding is a conversation designed with the relationship team, not a funnel. We sat in Zurich for two weeks and watched how families actually ask questions. The interface now answers those, in that order.
It is the first tool our families open without being asked. That is the whole brief, met. Elena Voss, Managing Partner, Vesper
What changed
The first 400 families onboarded without a support spike. Weekly active use among principals — not their assistants — rose from a rounding error to something the partnership now plans around. The PDF still exists. Almost nobody asks for it.
